The Anatomy Of Adultery And Violence (8)



For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication.” (1Thes. 4:3).

You will recall that for the past few weeks we have been revealed to why people fornicate or commit adultery. We concluded last week on the sixth reason namely: “Everyone else is doing it. Why must I be left out?” That God will always forgive but the scars may not be healed for life particularly, where they are emotional or physical scars. The best route of escape is to obey God and stay away from the reasons or excuses for sexual sin.

This week, we will start our discussion on the dangers of illicit sex. Illicit sex is an open door to more than fifty sexually transmittable diseases. It is the basis for most abnormal births such as deformed babies? Having sex with anyone, is the same as having sex with everyone that had ever slept with that person before you. This leads to serious and dirty contamination with the junks in the flesh, souls and spirits of all the previous sexual partners of the person you slept with.

There is the danger of unwanted pregnancies, which result most times in abortions or murder. The Bible sternly condemns this in the words of Micah 6:7b thus: “Shall I give my first born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Illicit sex can rob a man of his great future and God's given dream, most especially church workers. It reduces a man's value to crumbs of bread. “For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.” (Prov. 6:26) It has the ability to ruin intimacy and trust in marriage even after the sin might have been forgiven the culprit.

Sexual immorality invites God's judgment anytime. The worst danger of sex sin, especially for a believer in Christ Jesus, is that, it's an insult to God.
“Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.” (1Cor. 6:15).

Sexual sin affects other members of the Church of Christ. This also hinders the move of God in a congregation. It is the basis for most separations and divorces in marriages. The creator of both man and woman commands that this sin must not be mentioned among men and women but it is a whirl-wind that has swept-off the stability of most men and women all around the world irrespective of tribe, creed, social, political or economic classes men belong to. God is most likely to give up sexual abusers or violators to their evil minds for their destruction.

“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.” (Rom. 1:24-27).
It can lead us away from God and out of fellowship with Him.

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1Cor. 6:9-10).
The consequences of perpetual disobedience for a believer is at times premature death but is long life when we keep away from sexual sin.

“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.” (Prov. 6:23-29)

I am aware that this column has touched the lives of many people these past few weeks but certainly most people around the world will never love what we have been discussing. Normally, not all medications are sweet but in their bitterness lies the healing balm.
